The two founders of Insikt, Jennifer Woodard and Guillem Garcia, participated on January 8th-9th, 2018 at the third technical meeting of RED-Alert project which took place in London, UK. The meeting was hosted by one of the partners of the consortium, CITY University from UK.

The meeting brought together all partners: technical partners, both commercial companies and academic institutions, as well as law enforcement agencies (LEAs), to discuss face to face the challenges in the implementation of the project and also to develop a shared vision of the RED-Alert architecture for all technical partners. Main topics of the meeting were related to: the Deep Learning methodology, Ontology extraction and mapping, and Natural Language Processing issues in terms of textual language interpretation.

Thematic workshops were held in specific areas, such as Semantic Multimedia Analytics for multimedia processing and features extraction, Social Network Analysis to explore limitations of identifying entities across social media channels, Complex Events Processing for identifying patterns and raising alerts, and Data Privacy by means of anonymisation for enabling GDPR compliance. Technical partners presented DEMOs for the RED-Alert components in order to collect the first feedback towards the RED-Alert system architecture and integration capabilities definition, emphasising both commercial and academic aspects of technology innovation. Eventually the meeting facilitated free discussions, exchange of ideas, and demonstration of methods for practical application of skills and principles, with the main purpose of aligning the end users requirements to the technical capabilities of the envisioned RED-Alert system.

During  the meeting Prof. Boaz Ganor, Founder & Executive Director of The International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) presented a methodology aimed at recognizing and examining the characteristics which indicate potential radicalization.
